The slide was located about 37 miles north of Grand Junction and began on April 1, then continued off and on through April 15th. Wet weather caused the shoulder and roadway edge of the southbound lane to slide about four feet on the north side of the pass. The slide area was in a narrow and winding portion of the pass with limited site distance for drivers. |
