| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Interior Central California came under an inclement weather period where rain fell daily for the first 5 days of the month. Rainfall accumulations were quite substantial and combined with already saturated soils led to extensive urban and rural ponding as well as several cases of local flooding due to high water in small streams, canals, and creeks. Within the first 5 days of the month, Bald Mountain received over 14 inches of rain in the Madera County portion of the S.Sierra Nevada, Nature Point in Fresno County received over 10", 7" of rain fell at Jerseydale in Mariposa County, and just under 5" of rain occurred 8 miles east of Merced. In Kern County, rural ponding led to damage in 16 homes in the northwest area of Lamont by the 20th from the month's rainfall runoff and ponding. The near-continual inclement weather through March and into early April took its toll on area agriculture due to flooded fields, heavy rain on field crop produce and deciduous orchard fruit, much below normal temperatures, and hail events. |
