| episode_narrative | For the second time in the same week, heavy rain fell across northwestern New Jersey and produced poor drainage flooding. Runoff from the heavy rain did produce some downstream flooding in Somerset and Morris Counties. Heavier rain fell throughout the first half of the day on the 29th. Doppler Radar storm estimates were around 2.0 inches. Storm totals included 2.23 inches in Flemington (Hunterdon County), 1.88 inches in Newton (Sussex County), 1.76 inches in Riegelsville (Warren County), 1.75 inches in Sussex (Sussex County), 1.73 inches in Wantage (Sussex County) and 1.60 inches in Phillipsburg (Warren County). The low pressure system responsible for the heavy rain developed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the morning of the 28th and moved rapidly northeast. By 7 a.m. EST on the 29th, it was just southeast of New York City. |
