episode_narrativeA cluster of thunderstorms developed over southern Fayette, Spalding, Lamar, Pike, and northern Upson counties just before midnight, and persisted until around 3 am in the morning. Thunderstorms with intense lightning and very heavy rain moved over the same area repeatedly during this time frame. Thus, rainfall of 5 to 7 inches was common throughout this area, resulting in flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas. Several small creeks and streams rose out of their banks and some roads were also flooded. The worst part of the flooding took place in north central and northeast Upson county where seven roads were washed out and one apartment complex was flooded.
