| episode_narrative | After a dry late summer, the wet pattern that started in late September, continued through the month of October. The emerging drought was halted. Surface water flows on many streams and rivers recovered to above normal levels. A monthly rainfall total of 4.5 to 6.5 inches was widespread. These amounts were double the normal monthly precipitation The 6.1 inches at Charleston was the 7th wettest October. The 5.4 inches at Huntington was their 5th wettest October on record. The damp weather pattern caused the daytime high temperatures to run cooler than normal. In contrast, the same weather pattern resulted in the overnight low temperatures to be much warmer than usual. Most communities in the lowlands did not observe a freezing temperature during the entire month. |
