Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA frontal boundary became stationary south of Iowa. The surface front was over central Missouri, however the front at 850 mb was considerably farther north. As the nocturnal low level jet formed, thunderstorms developed in southwest Iowa. The airmass was unstable with 2000 to 3000 J/kg of elevated CAPE to the south of Iowa. The storms produced rainfall in the one to two inch range.
