The excessive rainfall from the storm caused creeks and streams to overflow in and around Leesburg. Tuscarora Creek that flows right through Leesburg overflowed it banks. The rushing water washed out Lawson Road near the Route 7 and 15 Interchange. Twenty four hour rainfall totals included 3.79 inches in Leesburg, 3.34 inches in Ashburn, 3.06 inches in Lincoln, and 2.44 inches at Dulles Airport. This storm also dropped around 2 inches of rain in Western Fairfax County. Herndon reported a rainfall total of 2.25 inches. |
