| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Scattered thunderstorms affected much of south central Arizona during the afternoon and evening hours on August 3rd, and some of the areas impacted included Wickenburg as well as the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. The stronger thunderstorms produced locally heavy rain with rain rates approaching 2 inches per hour. Additionally, they generated gusty and damaging microburst winds; some of most significant damage occurred in the town of Tempe. Several Flash Flood and Severe Thunderstorm warnings were issued for south central Arizona as a result of the strong thunderstorms. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Strong thunderstorms developed in the Wickenburg area during the late afternoon hours on August 3rd, and some of them produced locally heavy rainfall with peak rain rates in excess of 2 inches per hour. At 1744MST a trained weather spotter in northwest Wickenburg estimated that nearly 2 inches of rain had fallen within 30 minutes. The heavy rain led to the issuance of a Flash Flood Warning for Wickenburg; the warning began at 1734MST and continued until 1900MST. No injuries were reported due to the heavy rain or flash flooding. |
