In Augusta County, a power transformer was damaged by lightning resulting in the loss of power to 4600 residents. Another bolt started a garage fire near Dooms. In Waynesboro, a felled tree branch downed a power line. Heavy downpours flooded city streets. In Albemarle County, high winds downed trees between 10 and 15 miles from Keene. Pea sized hail was reported near Charlottesville. Heavy downpours flooded low lying areas and Route 20 was covered in water. In Nelson County, high winds downed a tree on Wilson Road. Heavy downpours caused small creeks to overflow their banks briefly. A trucker who drove across a flooded roadway hydroplaned and his vehicle flipped into a creek. No injuries were reported. A home in the Faber area was hit by lightning and the ensuing fire burned the structure to the ground.
