Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeHigh pressure aloft was centered over southwestern New Mexico while a cold front backed in from the northeast. This front ushered in additional moisture to this area as well as acted as a focus for thunderstorm development. Isolated strong to severe storms developed into the late afternoon and early morning hours and moved to the south. A severe storm developed just north of the town of Anton Chico producing heavy rains, large hail and destructive wind. A mobile home was flipped over and destroyed by this severe storm. A couple hours later a cluster of cells developed over the Sandia Mountains also creating heavy downpours and large hail.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeReports of 2.5 inches of rain in just 16 minutes from severe storm in the area.
