| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Vigorous thunderstorms developed across the southeast plains and the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains during the late afternoon to early evening hours on the 21st. Two large scale outflow boundaries that surged out of these areas of convection collided over Quay County by late evening. Training thunderstorms developed in the area between Tucumcari, Porter, and San Jon between about 8pm and 9pm, then again from about 1030pm to 130am on the 22nd. Rainfall estimates from Cannon AFB and Amarillo radars indicated a large portion of this area received 5 to 7 inches. A report from the periphery of this heavy rainfall near San Jon indicated 3.05 inches. No reports of flash flooding were received from the area of heavy rainfall around Porter. |
