episode_narrativeThunderstorms that produced heavy rain moved across Pendleton and Hardy Counties during the late afternoon of the 2nd. In Pendleton County, rainfall estimated at 3 inches in 30 minutes washed out a bridge in Green Walt Gap. Culverts were washed out in Smoke Hole, on Mitchell Mountain, and along Route 28. Heavy downpours weakened the soil enough to down two trees at the Smoke Hole Campground. In Hardy County, 1.41 inches of rain fell on South Fork Mountain.
