| episode_narrative | A slow moving low pressure system helped drop heavy rain across the southern half of New Jersey. Storm totals averaged between 2 and 3 inches, but approached 4 inches in and around Atlantic City. The heaviest rain fell during the evening of the 25th into the early morning of the 26th. While the rain was heavy, hourly totals rarely exceeded 0.50 inches. This kept the major streams, creeks and rivers within their banks. Nevertheless there was considerable urban, low-lying area and poor drainage flooding. Storm totals included 3.81 inches at the Marina within Atlantic City, 3.54 inches in Margate (Atlantic County), 3.32 inches in Absecon (Atlantic County), 3.26 inches in Hammonton (Atlantic County), 3.07 inches in Washington Township (Gloucester County), 2.96 inches in Somerdale (Camden County), 2.93 inches at the Atlantic City International Airport, 2.92 inches in Seabrook (Cumberland County), 2.83 inches in Verga (Gloucester County), 2.78 inches in New Lisbon (Burlington County), 2.61 inches in Pennsauken (Camden County), 2.46 inches in Mount Laurel (Burlington County), 2.37 inches in Mount Holly (Burlington County) and 1.73 inches in Trenton (Mercer County). The low pressure system responsible for the heavy rain, traveled from the lower Tennessee Valley the morning of the 25th to just east of Wallops Island, Virginia the morning of the 26th. By the evening of the 26th, the low was well offshore. |
