episode_narrativeA slow moving low pressure system dropped heavy rain across Delaware. Storm totals averaged between 1.5 and 3.5 inches with the highest amounts in Kent and Sussex Counties. The heaviest rain fell during the evening of the 25th. While the rain was heavy, hourly totals did not exceed 0.50 inches and this kept the major streams, creeks and rivers within their banks. Nevertheless there was considerable urban, low-lying area and poor drainage flooding. Storm totals included 3.73 inches in Bridgeville (Sussex County), 3.62 inches in Milford (Sussex County), 3.53 inches in Dover (Kent County), 3.28 inches in Greenwood (Sussex County), 2.20 inches in Millsboro (Sussex County), 2.15 inches in Lewes (Sussex County), 1.92 inches at the New Castle County Airport, 1.90 inches in Newark, 1.84 inches in Georgetown (Sussex County) and 1.57 inches in Wilmington (New Castle County). The low pressure system responsible for the heavy rain, traveled from the lower Tennessee Valley the morning of the 25th to just east of Wallops Island, Virginia the morning of the 26th. By the evening of the 26th, the low was well offshore.
