episode_narrativeA slow moving low pressure system helped drop heavy rain across extreme southeast Pennsylvania. Storm totals averaged between 2 and 3 inches. The heaviest rain fell during the evening of the 25th. While the rain was heavy, hourly totals did not exceed 0.50 inches and this kept the major streams, creeks and rivers within their banks. Nevertheless there was considerable urban, low-lying area and poor drainage flooding. Storm totals included 2.81 inches at the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, 2.75 inches in Crum Creek (Delaware County), 2.70 inches in Downingtown (Chester County), 2.63 inches in West Chester (Chester County), 2.42 inches in Exton (Chester County), 2.37 inches at the Philadelphia International Airport and the Franklin Institute within Philadelphia, 2.27 inches in Chadds Ford (Delaware County), 2.10 inches in Wynnewood (Montgomery County), 2.02 inches in Glenmoore (Chester County), 1.97 inches in Valley Forge (Chester County), 1.83 inches in Neshaminy Falls (Bucks County), 1.61 inches in Doylestown (Bucks County) and 1.42 inches in Pottstown (Montgomery County). The low pressure system responsible for the heavy rain, traveled from the lower Tennessee Valley the morning of the 25th to just east of Wallops Island, Virginia the morning of the 26th. By the evening of the 26th, the low was well offshore.
