| episode_narrative | Low pressure moved from the Ohio Valley on the 20th to the Mid-Atlantic region on the 21st. East winds ahead of the system ushered moist air into the region directly from the Atlantic Ocean. When the low passed through on the morning and afternoon of the 21st heavy precipitation fell. Temperatures were cold enough in higher elevations across Mineral, Grant, and Pendleton Counties that most of the precipitation fell as snow. Accumulations included 12 inches on Timber Ridge, 9 inches on Mt. Storm, 6 to 8 inches across Mineral County, 5 inches in Petersburg, 4 inches in Franklin, 3 inches in Mathias and Bayard, and 1 inch in Keyser. Route 42 in Grant County was blocked by snow. A mixture of rain and snow fell in Hardy and Hampshire Counties, and rain fell across Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson Counties. Rainfall totals in these areas included 2.15 inches in Berkeley Springs, 1.64 inches at Pinnacle Lookout, 1.43 inches in Charles Town, 1.36 inches in Martinsburg, 1.30 inches at Cacapon Park, 1.20 inches at Flesher Mountain, and 1.16 inches at Shenandoah Mountain. |
