Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAn area of moisture from an old frontal boundary caught up in the trade wind flow produced heavy showers over parts of Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. The rain caused small stream and drainage ditch flooding, and ponding on roadways. No serious injuries or property damage were reported, though several hikers were stranded for a time, in the period from 21 to 24 March, in Waipio Valley on the Big Island because of persistent rainfall in the area. The hikers were eventually rescued by fire department personnel.
