| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Thunderstorms developed and remained quasi-stationary in association with a surface low pressure center over the Mississippi River between St. Louis, Missouri and Cairo, Illinois. The storms were the result of the combination of the surface low, daytime heating, and a very moist atmosphere with precipitable water values approaching two inches. The storms were further enhanced by a 500 mb shortwave trough over southwest Missouri. |

There was extensive flooding of parking lots in shopping areas on the south side of Paducah. The water was generally less than a foot deep. A flood-prone secondary road along Champion Creek in the Hendron area was impassable. Other roads in the Hendron area were covered by around three inches of water. The flood-prone intersection at U.S. 62 and Highway 286 was impassable. There was an unofficial report from a Paducah television station of 2.5 inches in about an hour. |
