As this trough moved westward, southerly flow between it and strong high pressure off the mid-Atlantic seaboard brought tropical moisture northward across the Tennessee and Lower Ohio Valleys. Despite widespread cloudiness and cool temperatures, repeated tropical showers from July 4th through the 6th brought several episodes of localized flash flooding across the Commonwealth. Some river flooding developed during subsequent days on the Rolling Fork and Green Rivers. |
