| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | An unstable and very moist atmosphere was in place across Iowa with numerous boundaries across the region. Precipitable water was around 1.8 inches. About 3000 J/kg of CAPE was available, but severe parameters were relatively weak. With the deep warm cloud depth in place, thunderstorms were efficient rain producers. Thunderstorms formed along an upper level boundary in northeast Iowa. They were in a northwest to southeast orientation, with the thunderstorms training southeast along the line. Two to four inches of rain fell in parts of Bremer, Butler, and Black Hawk Counties. The ground was already nearly saturated. Flash flooding occurred across the area. There was little in the way of severe weather. A hail report of quarter size hail was received in Black Hawk County. |
