| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Broad high pressure over the Gulf of Mexico kept a conveyor belt of moisture moving north into the region, while midlevel high pressure centers over the plains and the southeast US resulted in disturbances aloft and unsettled weather across the Rio Grande Valley and Deep South Texas on July 13th. Large scale lift and upper diffluence combined with a light to moderate southeast wind, and abundant moisture, allowed for seabreeze convection. The convection initiated along the coastal counties earlier in the afternoon and continued to march across the region through the evening hours. These showers and thunderstorms were slow moving and had rainfall rates of 3 to 4 inches per hours. Portions of rural Jim Hogg County received between 4 and 6 inches of rain. |
