| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | A large upper level trough located over the western U.S. was ejecting pieces of energy out over the Central Plains. Ahead of this trough at the surface, low pressure developed over eastern Colorado, helping to push a warm front north into the region. Storms first initiated over western Kansas along the dry line in the early afternoon hours, with more development later on along the warm front in the evening. Several strong to severe thunderstorms moved into central Nebraska during the late afternoon hours and these spread east during the evening. This event was also the first in a series of nights in which many areas saw heavy rain. |
