episode_narrativeA massive upper ridge over the central and eastern U.S. enabled heat to build into Wisconson, especially on the 25th. Maximum heat indices on the 23rd and 24th were in the middle and upper 90s, but soared well into triple digits on the 25th. A cold frontal passage very late on the 25th put an end to the heat wave. The highest indices noted on the 25th were 116 at Red Wing MN airport (the airport is one mile southeast of Hager City in Pierce County WI), and 110 at both Eau Claire and Rice Lake. Temperatures hit the middle 90s on the 25th; dewpoints were widespread in the upper 70s, and even topped out at 81 in Rice Lake and Red Wing airport.
