| episode_narrative | A high pressure system that settled over the eastern part of the United States on the 20th and 21st prevented a weak backdoor cold front from reaching the Delmarva Peninsula on the 22nd. This started a five day heat wave across the peninsula that lasted through the 26th. The heat wave ended as cloudiness associated with Hurricane Bonnie and an approaching weak cold front prevented temperatures from reaching into the 90s. The hottest day for most areas was the 25th and included high temperatures of 98 degrees in Salisbury and 96 degrees at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Bridgeville (Delaware). While no heat related injuries or fatalities were reported, the combination of the high temperatures and no rainfall continued to stress the corn and soybean crops across the region. |
