Numerous record high temperatures were set during this period. Phoenix Sky Harbor airport had four consecutive days with record highs...118 on the 21st, 116 on the 22nd, and 114 on the 23rd and 24th. The Maricopa County Department of Public Health issued a subsequent report of 50 deaths caused by the excessive heat, 15 deaths were related to the excessive heat, and 10 deaths remained under investigation as of September 2006. |
