Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe seasons first Bermuda high developed by April 15th, and began pumping unseasonably warm air across eastern New York and adjacent western New England. Temperatures from 15th through the 19th averaged more than 20 degrees above seasonal normals for this time frame! At the Albany International Airport, a warm minimum temperature of 57 degrees was recorded on the 16th. Two daily record highs were established on the 16th with 89 degrees, and the 17th with 91. It was the earliest date of the calendar year that a 90 or higher reading was ever officially recorded. The April warm spell ended on Friday, the 19th, as a cold front triggered scattered thunderstorms across the region, followed by a return to more seasonable temperatures.
