Temperatures during the day warmed into the 90s, with overnight lows remaining in the 70s. Dew point temperatures held in the mid 70s to low 80s through most of the time. An elderly woman passed away in Des Moines on the 5th. She was found in her home with the windows closed and temperatures in the house in excess of 100 degrees F. She had succomed to the heat.
