episode_narrativeHeat Advisories were issued by WFO HNX due to temperatures reaching consistently above 100 degrees F. along with Heat Indices greater than 105F during a 3-day period from the 14th through the 16th in the Central and Southern San Joaquin Valley. Energy use hit a record high of 2600 Megawatts due to the need for air conditioning on Thursday, the 15th, in Interior California. Maximum temperatures in the Valley were all at or above 100 degrees F. on the 14th; highest readings to 108 F on the 15th; and generally all above 100 F on the 16th except for a little cooling in Merced County area to the upper 90s. Bakersfield set a new minimum temperature of 73 F on the 14th eclipsing the old record of 70 in 1975. Just to the west of the WFO HNX CWFA, the maximum temperature on the 14th at Paso Robles equaled its all-time high temperature of 115 F.
