Washington Reagan National Airport recorded a high temperature of 88 degrees, compared to the normal high of 74 degrees. On the 7th and 8th, National Airport recorded a high temperature of 90 degrees. On the 9th, National Airport reached 88 degrees. Heat indices through the period were in the 90s. Because this was the first hot spell of the spring, a few people suffered from heat related illnesses. One woman who was working at a construction site in the District was treated for heat stroke on the 9th. Across the metropolitan area, 40 people were treated for heat related illnesses during the period.
