Afternoon heat index values reached around 100 degrees. There were two heat related deaths of two women who lived alone in Montgomery County. A 57-year-old woman was found deceased by family friends in her Rockledge home on July 2nd and a 71-year-old woman was found on July 3rd in her Lansdale residence. Neither residence had air conditioning and no fans were in operation.||High temperatures were mostly in the mid to upper 90s and included 97 degrees in Reading (Berks County), the Philadelphia International and Northeast Philadelphia Airport, 95 degrees in Doylestown (Bucks County) and 94 degrees in Pottstown (Montgomery County). A weak cold front moved through the state overnight on the 1st. It was not enough to end the heat wave, but dropped humidity levels (and subsequently the heat index) lower on the 2nd. |
