Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA persistent upper level high pressure ridge brought the second prolonged heat wave to eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. High temperatures in the 90s and in some cases over 100 combined with dew point temperatures that rose as high as the lower 80s to produce heat index values of at least 105 degrees and in many cases 110 to 120 degrees.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeTemperatures reached the lower to mid 90s on the 1st and mid to upper 90s on the 2nd. When combined with dew point temperatures in the mid 70s to lower 80s this produced heat index values that exceeded 110 to 115 degrees each afternoon. Muggy overnight lows of 75 to 80 provided little relief at night.
