This feature gradually retreated westward to the Southwest by the 18th. During much of this time period, surface high pressure over the central and southern Appalachian Mountains produced a south to southwest flow of hot and humid air. Heat indices reached 105 to 109 degrees across all of southeast Missouri on the 14th and 15th, and only over part of the area on the 16th and 17th. Actual high temperatures were mostly in the middle 90's. |
