Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA heat wave began late in July as high pressure aloft built into the area. On the 30th, only isolated stations recorded highs of 100 degrees, but on the 31st, many stations topped 100. Heat indices were generally in the range of 105 to 110 degrees.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA 41 year-old man died from the heat. According to the Pulaski County coroner, the man became ill after working outside most of the day on July 31st. He was taken to the hospital on August 1st with a body temperature above 100 degrees and was admitted to intensive care. He died on August 3rd.
