| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | The longest heat wave of the summer affected New Jersey from July 16th through the 22nd. Some places in southern New Jersey also reached into the lower 90s on the 23rd. The heat wave ended in about the northern two thirds of the state on the 22nd as thunderstorms kept temperatures below 90 degrees and in the rest of the state on the 23rd after a cold front moved through the following morning. High temperatures were mainly in the lower to mid 90s throughout the heat wave. The hottest days occurred on the 18th, 19th or 20th. The combination of the temperatures and dew points produced apparent temperatures or heat indices of around 100F.||A 14-year-old girl drowned in an off-limit lake that used to be a quarry in Gloucester Township (Camden County) on the 18th. She was in the water with three relatives when she disappeared. ||Highest temperatures included 98 degrees in Hillsborough (Somerset County) and Berkeley Township (Ocean County), 97 degrees in Sicklerville (Gloucester County), New Brunswick (Middlesex County), Millville (Cumberland County), Trenton (Mercer County) and Mount Holly (Burlington County), 96 degrees in Cherry Hill (Camden County) and at the Atlantic City International Airport, 95 degrees in Woodstown (Salem County), 94 degrees in Pequest (Warren County), Flemington (Hunterdon County), Boonton (Morris County) and Woodbine (Cape May County) and 93 degrees in Kingwood (Hunterdon County) and Sussex (Sussex County). |
