| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | As a cold front started to cross the far western counties of New York, thunderstorms developed in an airmass with little shear but modestly strong instability. Conditions were marginally favorable for waterspouts within cells over Lake Erie, but convective cloud depths were questionable. Upstream reports indicated some waterspouts with the convective activity west of the area over western Lake Erie, and those reports continued into the nearshore area of western New York. As the activity moved into the area, one cell had a very nice lightning core with it. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Multiple news sources broadcast video of two waterspouts forming offshore of Dunkirk, New York. |
