Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA weak trough was in place across central Florida preventing the Atlantic surface high pressure ridge from moving north of its position across south Florida. This resulted in light steering winds across the area, and afternoon showers and thunderstorms propogated mainly along the sea breezes and outflow boundaries. Daytime heating and sufficient moisture allowed showers and storms throughout the afternoon and evening. As one storm moved offshore of Volusia County, it produced a waterspout near New Smyrna Beach.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLocal broadcast media relayed a video via social media taken from Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach showing a waterspout offshore.
