| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Strong thunderstorms occurred this day as a cold front moved through the Mid-Atlantic. The storms eventually moved off to the east-southeast to the Jersey Shore. A well-defined waterspout was caught on video about 1 mile off Normandy Beach. The lifetime of the waterspout was estimated based on radar velocity fields. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | A phone call was received in the afternoon regarding a video of a waterspout on social media. The video footage looked realistic. Several additional media calls were received notifying the office of the video afterward. Further investigation showed a weak circulation center and a velocity couplet when analyzing radar data from KDIX and TEWR. The waterspout was estimated to have formed about 1 mile east and offshore of Normandy Beach and have lasted for nearly ten minutes, traveling for about 3 miles. |
