Prior to convective initiation, a Tornado Watch (#461) was issued for the western Adirondacks and Mohawk Valley and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch (#463) was issued for much of eastern New York and western New England. These storms resulted in numerous reports of trees and power lines down across eastern New York. A severe storm that passed through Montgomery county snapped several trees in half due to straight line wind damage. Several thousand people lost power in New York due to the severe thunderstorms as well. |
