Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA weak surface pressure pattern and ample low to middle altitude moisture promoted scattered shower and thunderstorm development initially in the Lower Florida Keys coastal waters, then further west into the western Florida Straits and southeast Gulf of Mexico. A few waterspouts and isolated gale-force wind gusts were observed.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA mature waterspout with a spray ring was observed by both a trained weather spotter and charter vessel captain. The waterspout developed beneath a cumulus cloud line to the east of a developing rain shower. The waterspout was narrow, with the funnel extending completely from cloud base to the water surface.
