Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeLate this afternoon, a pilot flying near Slide (southwest Lubbock County) reported a funnel cloud near New Home (northwest Lynn County) to the Lubbock Air Traffic Control. The pilot stated this later became a tornado, but no corroborating evidence was ever discovered. By early evening, trained spotters and the general public photographed multiple funnel clouds from a strong storm that moved slowly west along Texas Highway 114 from Lubbock to Levelland. These funnels were the byproduct of updrafts residing sufficiently long enough over an outflow boundary.
