| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | The persistent warm and moisture-rich atmosphere for early June continued to provide the ingredients for strong to severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall. The strongest storms rolled south off the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A very intense storm developed near Villanueva and slammed Interstate 40 near Clines Corners with very large hail. One to two inch diameter hail smashed car windshields and piled up several inches deep along U.S. Highway 285 near mile marker 240. Several cars slid off the road into nearby ditches due to the hail. A funnel cloud was reported as well Moriarty. A downburst wind from a decaying thunderstorm around Albuquerque tore the roof off a roller skating rink near Interstate 40 and Juan Tabo. No one was injured. A couple downed trees were also noted across the Albuquerque metro area. The Sunport reported a peak wind gust up to 56 mph. |
