| episode_narrative | A severe thunderstorm knocked down trees and power lines, mainly in the southern half of Sussex County. A wind gust to 82 mph was reported by the Pilot Tower at Cape Henlopen. Tents were knocked over at the Delmarva Chicken Festival in Millsboro, but no injuries were reported. About 3,000 homes and businesses lost power mostly in the southwest part of the county. The Delaware state highway department had to make about three dozen dispatches to clear trees from roadways throughout the state. As the thunderstorms approached the shore, funnel clouds were sighted in Bethany Beach and Dagsboro and along the Indian River Inlet. They apparently did not touch down. |
