An upper level disturbance tracked eastward across central and northern New Mexico triggering showers and thunderstorms over much of the area. Moisture remained abundant with precipitable water vales nearly 150% of normal. Showers and thunderstorms developed during the late morning hours across central portions of the state. These storms slowly moved eastward throughout the afternoon. During the late afternoon hours, a thunderstorm developed in far northwest Bernalillo County and intensified as it moved east southeast into the Albuquerque South Valley. This storm dropped over one inch of rainfall in less than 45 minutes causing significant flooding in Albuquerque's South Valley. Another isolated strong thunderstorm near Bernal in San Miguel county produced a well-defined funnel cloud. |
