| episode_narrative | Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms developed during the late afternoon from near Waterloo to Marshalltown and Newton, and raced northeast at near 50 mph across portions of Eastern Iowa. The thunderstorms mainly affected Benton, Buchanan and Linn Counties. Benton County was hit hardest with several reports of funnel clouds, 60 to 70 mph winds and small hail. The thunderstorms weakened during the evening as they moved east. |
