These storms developed in a complex surface pattern across the Upper Midwest as a pre-frontal surface trough, dry line and cold front all passed through the area. The storms primarily produced large hail, although a funnel cloud was sighted near Merrillan (Jackson County). The largest hail reported was half dollar sized near Independence (Trempealeau County).
