An area of strong to severe thunderstorms moved through the region preceding the front during the early to mid afternoon. Wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph were reported over most of the area along with small hail as the line moved through the area, resulting in downed power lines and some tree damage. About 17,000 customers in South Florida lost power during the event.
