Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeSeveral strong marine thunderstorms spawned multiple waterspouts during the late afternoon, within the immediate coastal waters, from a few hundred yards to a half mile offshore the Volusia County coast. One waterspout moved onshore the beach as a tornado and then meandered south between the beach and adjacent Atlantic for over 5 minutes. See separate tornado event beginning at 446 pm EST for additional details.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA weather spotter observed three waterspouts, from about a half mile offshore to several hundred yards offshore, to the northeast of Daytona Beach pier. The waterspouts moved east, farther offshore.
