Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAs a deep upper trough moved further west into the western Gulf Mexico, high pressure was in the process of rebuilding north of the Florida Keys. Speed convergency resulting from the increased east-southeast flow aided in the development of widespread showers and thunderstorms, including scattered gale-force convective wind gusts.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA vertical, mature and elephant-trunk-like waterspout was observed south of Big Pine Key. The condensation cloud extended from the cloud base to the horizon. The observer estimated the location was south of Coupon Bight. The waterspout moved toward the northeast around 15 knots.
