| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | High pressure centered over the Great Basin resulted in a mainly clear day with above normal temperatures across the area on October 29. Clear skies, light winds and inversion conditions allowed for areas of dense fog to form in the San Joaquin Valley overnight reducing visibility to as low as an eighth of a mile. The fog remained persistent in a few spots until late morning. A low pressure system moving across the Pacific Northwest on October 30 provided for enough mixing and cloud cover the following night to inhibit fog formation. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Visibility below a quarter mile was reported in Merced and Atwater. |
