Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeBoundary layer moisture remained elevated across the central deserts during the morning hours on December 11th following the passage of a wet winter storm system. As skies cleared and winds became light, the high humidity allowed for the formation of dense fog in portions of the greater Phoenix area, from the west valley southeastward and into the town of Maricopa. More than one trained spotter reported dense fog with visibility below one quarter of a mile; a spotter near the town or Maricopa reported visibility down to 100 feet as seen in a picture. Additionally, the official AWOS weather station at the Goodyear airport measured a visibility to one quarter of a mile at 0605MST. There were no reports of accidents due to the sharply reduced visibilities.
